Atmosphere
The Del-Bar in Wisconsin Dells carries mid-century steakhouse confidence. Low lighting. Clean lines. Casual yet elegant. During the holidays, decorations add even more warmth without overwhelming the room’s classic character. It feels polished and classy.
Old Fashioned
The Del-Bar's Old Fashioned is simply wonderful. Sweet, but well balanced. Orange and caramel. Not overly strong. It's a smooth, easy drinking Old Fashioned. Very nice. Great start to the meal.
Starters
French onion soup comes in a glazed crock with a deeply browned, blistered cheese cap. Break through the crust and steam rises from a rich, savory broth layered with softened onions. Hot. Really hot. And really good.
MOysters on the half shell arrive on crushed ice in a metal platter, cleanly shucked and glistening. Fresh horseradish sits mounded in the center. Cold. Briny. Definitely more steakhouse than supper club - but an elegant treat.
Entrees
The petite filet lands with a defined sear and a warm, rosy center cooked precisely to order. Marrow butter melts slowly over the top, pooling and enriching each bite without overwhelming the beef. The marrow butter is like gilding the lily. Amazing steak.
The rib eye — whether 14-ounce or the larger bone-in cut — shows clear grill marks and balanced seasoning. The exterior crust gives way to a properly tempered interior. Even doneness. Consistent temperature. Steakhouse fundamentals done well.
Walleye arrives golden with a crisp, even coating. The interior flakes clean and moist, holding its own against any traditional fish fry. Reliable and well fried.
Sides perform. Garlic mashed potatoes are creamy with noticeable garlic presence. Loaded baked potatoes arrive properly dressed and hot through the center. The bread basket includes subtle cranberry notes, lightly sweet against a soft interior.
Bottom Line
The Del-Bar delivers a refined supper club steakhouse experience built on consistent steak execution and polished service. Pricing sits firmly in premium territory, but quality largely supports it. For celebrations or a classic Dells dinner with strong steakhouse fundamentals, it remains one of the state's most dependable dining institutions.
