Atmosphere
There's not much to St. Anna, Wisconsin. But a curious thing happens in the late afternoon. Cars slowly drive through town. Crowds begin to gather. Hungry supper clubbers descend on a large brick and wood building restaurant at Sheboygan and Main. This is Schwarz's, the Supper Club Hub's top rated restaurant - and for good reason.
Schwarz's is bustling, but not loud. There is an air of anticipation as patrons await their names being called. As they wait, regulars and first-timers sip on old fashioned and munch on bar snacks. The time passes quickly at Schwarz's, even for the hungry.
Old Fashioned
Tasty, simple and expertly mixed. Schwarz's dark amber Old Fashioned has a sweet, carmel-like flavor with a smooth, carbonated finish. The Old Fashioned is easy drinking, without the burn of some cocktails. Mellow and slightly oaky with hints of cherry and orange - that's the Schwarz's Old Fashioned.
Starters
Once seated, the relish tray arrives quickly with raw vegetables arranged in a shallow oval platter. The relish tray is simple, but nicely prepared, perfect for those who appreciate the simple pleasures of carrot sticks, black olives and more.
The dinner salad and rolls were simple and tasty, but unremarkable.
What followed was a real treat - onion rings! The hand cut, hand breaded thick cut rings were cracker-crunch with just the right sweetness. Schwarz's famous onion rings were a highlight.
Entrees
Schwarz's prime rib has a well-deserved reputation in Wisconsin. Thick, warm and bathed in au-jus, the prime rib was delicious. Perfectly cooked and fork tender, it was a great meal - and made for wonderful prime rib and eggs breakfast the following morning.
The perch also earned high marks. The fish arrives crispy outside, flaky inside, without the excessive breading that plagues lesser fish fries.
At other tables, patrons were raving about the ribeye and walleye plate.
Service flows smoothly despite the crowds. Staff members attentive, extremely polite and handled the crowds with easy.
Bottom Line
Schwarz's is the top supper club is our top-ranked supper club in the state, scoring a 97 of 100 points. The atmosphere and meal is amazing. And for the quality - the restaurant offers increadible value. These are not Madison or Milwaukee prices - and it's not even close. So, make a day of it - head to Schwarz's in St. Anna. It's a great night out.
