Atmosphere
Relish centers the room around a massive fieldstone fireplace. It anchors everything. Warm wood tones, deep booths, and a layout that encourages lingering. For a restaurant that opened recently, it feels settled. Confident. The crowd ranges from dressed-up couples to multigenerational families working through the full supper club ritual. It leans traditional without feeling dated.
Old Fashioned
Old Fashioneds arrive in faceted rocks glasses, deep caramel and orange. The classic Old Fashioned is balanced and spirit-forward. Tasty - but the real treat was the Brown Butter Burbon Old Fashioned. It deep, nutty and less sweet than the brandy version. Good enough to travel some distance for.
Starters
Relish bar! Yes, we said it - a choose your own adventure, serve yourself relish bar with all the fixings - and then some. Cheese spread, summer sausage, deviled eggs, vegetables and much, much more. Top relish tray (bar) in the state. Again - this is the kind of experience you travel for. Reish most definitely elevates the relish tray.
Bread is also a treat. A rounded loaf served on a wooden board is warm, soft and golden brown.
French onion soup arrives bubbling in a white glazed crock. The cheese cap is deeply golden, blistered at the edges, stretching slightly when broken. The broth underneath is rich and savory without excessive salt. A strong opener.
Entrees
Walleye piccata stands out. The exterior holds a crisp, even crust while the interior flakes clean and moist. The lemon-caper butter sauce brings brightness without overwhelming the fish. Balanced. Properly executed.
The New York strip arrives with defined char marks and a firm sear. Cooked precisely to temperature, it cuts clean with a warm pink center. Seasoning stays restrained, allowing the beef to carry the plate. Confident steakhouse technique.
Prime rib, ordered at a nearby table, shows a rosy interior and seasoned outer rim. Thick-cut and evenly warm. It looks like a plate built for regulars.
Ice cream flight altert! Four ice cream drinks arrive in a metal carrier, each in its own small glass. Thick. Frosted. The Pink Squirrel leans sweet and nostalgic. The Brandy Alexander is smooth and creamy, rich without becoming cloying.
Bottom Line
Relish understands the supper club formula — fireplace atmosphere, serious relish tray, well-executed steaks, and strong Old Fashioneds. For the Germantown area, this is a polished, modern entry that respects tradition and delivers a complete experience.
