The dining room at Fredrick's needs some attention—dated décor meets well-worn booths—but the kitchen knows its strengths. Watch servers weave between tables carrying crocks of French onion soup, each one properly browned and bubbling. The ceramic vessels arrive on white saucers, cheese melted into an amber cap that stretches when you break through with your spoon.
Prime rib anchors the menu here, and the kitchen takes it seriously. Twenty-two hours of slow roasting produces the tender slabs that emerge from the pass on square white plates. The rib eye shows up golden and crispy on its rectangular platter, a small ramekin of sauce alongside. Both cuts demonstrate solid technique, though the filet could benefit from proper seasoning beyond its tender texture.
Friday brings the fish fry crowds, and the kitchen responds with multiple options. The three-piece cod arrives light and crispy, while the sampler plate showcases cod alongside perch and bluegill.
