Atmosphere
Delaney’s is a great Madison restaurant that knows its lane (anyone get the pun?).  The dining room breaks into smaller compartments, creating quiet pockets where conversations stay contained. Low lighting. Dark wood. A mix of regulars, date-night couples, and groups settling in for serious steaks. Delaney's most definitely leans steakhouse more than supper club, but the ritual is familiar.

Old Fashioned
The Old Fashioned arrives in a classic faceted rocks glass.  Brandy-forward with measured sweetness. Strong enough to register, smooth enough to sip. The Old Fashioned signals a good night ahead.

Starters
Seafood bisque leads the way. It arrives steaming in a wide-rim bowl, the color a soft coral with visible flecks of shellfish. Chunks of crab and seafood sit in a rich, creamy base that tastes concentrated but not overly heavy. It's warm and comforting - great with rolls.

Entrees
Prime rib comes out on an oval metal platter, edges properly browned with a warm pink interior fading gradually toward the crust. The cut is thick. Juices pool lightly at the base. This is a classic and delicious preparation.  Horseradish on the side brings sharp contrast.

The filet has a wonderful, defined char.  Incredibly tender.  They seasoning stays restrained, letting the beef speak for iteself.  The steak is perfectly cooked.

We don't often spend time on sides here - but the hash browns are worth noting.  Crispy and nicely salted.  Really fantastic.

The crab cakes are also wonderful.  Deep golden brown, tender on the inside.  Heavy on the crab - light on filler.  It's a strong option for those wanting something other than beef.

Bottom Line
Delaney’s is a Madison steakhouse that delivers where it matters most — prime rib and properly cooked steaks. The bar is solid. Service is dependable.  For west side diners looking for nice ambiance and reliably delicious steaks, Delaney's is a great choice.
