Well known for its relish tray with with house-made braunschweiger and wide-ranging menu, The 3 Mile House is well worth the drive to southwest Wisconsin. Great food, reasonable prices and fantastic value - The 3 Mile House is a must-visit.

Pull up to 3 Mile House and you know you're in supper club country. The Hazel Green area might just have more supper clubs per capita than anywhere else in Wisconsin, and this one stands among the finest. Step through the door into wood-paneled warmth, where bartenders build Old Fashioneds in heavy-based tumblers and the dining room hums with conversation.

The relish tray arrives first, a pressed-glass platter bearing what might be the state's best version. Three white ramekins hold the treasures: that famous house-made braunschweiger spread that people buy to take home, creamy cheese spread, and fresh ranch dip. Fresh vegetables provide the vehicle, but it's really about those spreads.

Watch the French onion soup emerge from the kitchen, its golden cheese cap blistered and bubbling in the traditional crock. Break through to find rich amber broth below. The walleye follows, arriving golden on its oval plate, the coating crispy and grease-free. Each forkful flakes perfectly.

The kitchen sends out ribeyes on sizzle platters, the browned meat still popping as servers navigate the dining room. Prime rib appears thick and rosy, while the honey bourbon salmon glistens with its sweet glaze. Baked potatoes come properly fluffy, ready for butter and sour cream.

Service runs like clockwork here, the staff moving with practiced efficiency through a full dining room. They know their business, from cocktail service at the bar to timing the courses just right.

Dessert brings homemade pumpkin pie and that blueberry cobbler cheesecake that regulars rave about. By the time you push back from the table, you understand why this place consistently ranks among the area's best. In a region rich with supper clubs, 3 Mile House has found the formula: respect tradition, execute with precision, and let quality ingredients speak for themselves.
